GOES-19 is NOAA's current operational Geostationary East satellite, positioned at 75.2°W. It scans the full continental US every 5 minutes, the full Western Hemisphere every 10 minutes, and up to two mesoscale sectors every ~60 seconds. Mesoscale sectors are NWS-directed and repositioned over areas of active weather — primarily used during severe weather events and tropical cyclones.

GeoColor is a multispectral composite — true color during the day, enhanced infrared at night. Water vapor shows mid-level atmospheric moisture and jet stream position. IR (Band 13) shows cloud-top temperatures — colder (higher) tops appear brighter.
